Icebreakers International Networking Event

Ryowa House holds its first 「Icebreakers International Networking Event」 Ryowa House holds its first 「Icebreakers International Networking Event」

On February 17th, 2018, the first Icebreakers international networking event was held.
This original event was held in Hachobori at our friendly neighborhood Latin restaurant,『Cusco Café()』 where over 40 non-Japanese guests from 15 different countries came to network with over 60 Japanese entrepreneurs.

The 「Icebreakers()」 name was chosen to reflect the feeling projected by the English phrase ``break the ice.`` We provided activities, drinks and a welcoming atmosphere to help "break the ice" and allow people to make connections that would be otherwise impossible. Ryowa House is aiming to make an easy going atmosphere for foreign residents of the community to connect with each other and with Japanese individuals that are well connected in the city.

The event kicked off at 7:30pm. Most tables were occupied by a mixture of 2 non-Japanese residents and 2-3 Japanese entrepreneurs. Self introductions were conducted by the non-Japanese residents and they were able to ask for advice about how to connect more to the community and build their careers in Hiroshima. Mr. Hiroki Mitsuhara put on a lovely Koto performance. After he was followed by two Argentinian street performers and lastly, a hip hop group free-styled to get the crowd going. Many non-Japanese residents practiced speaking in Japanese and some Japanese entrepreneurs practiced their English as well. At 10pm many guests were so caught up in their conversations they didn't want to leave but at 10pm, 2 1/2 hours later the Icebreakers event came to a close. It was a night to remember.
